Warping?

What happens if my board warps?

Sadly, since wooden cutting boards are made of.... well, wood, and wood moves, sometimes cutting boards "move" or "cup" or "warp".  I take every precaution to ensure that wood movement is kept to a minimum. I only use wood that has dried to the correct moisture content, I soak them in mineral oil to help keep the moisture from penetrating.  But there is no wooden cutting board maker on this planet that can guarantee that their product will not warp, if they do, they are lying.  If you follow the directions on my site and properly take care of your board, wood movement shouldn't be an issue.  But sometimes in spite of all this, boards still move.  But don't panic, there are things that can be done. Rather then re-typing all of the great info out there, I'm just going to provide a link to this great website (here) that walks you through the steps.

If you took good care of your board and it has warped so badly that you can't use it, please contact me and we can chat about options. The tools I use to make boards can in some cases also be used to remedy these issues.

Any Oil?

Can't i just use any oil I want to?

NOOOOOOO!!!  We use mineral oil because it doesn't turn rancid (Which is my least favorite word in the english language, btw).  Olive oil, corn oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil all can go bad and make your board stink.  Mineral oil doesn't go bad, and it's super cheap to boot!
